SOCIAL INNOVATION IN THE UK
SAMIR is one of the thousands of children enjoying our healthy eating education programmes.
DANONE’S SOCIAL INNOVATION INITIATIVES ARE TRANSFORMING PEOPLES’ LIVES IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES, ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.
Danone’s social innovation strategy aims to positively impact people’s long term health and well-being, supporting those who need it the most.
We’re innovative and adaptive in our approach. We make the most of our expertise and individual skills while working closely with local partners.
Our initiatives are tailored to communities’ needs to create long-lasting, sustainable projects.
The Early Years Nutrition (EYN) Partnership is working to improve the future health outcomes of young children by setting a standard for nutrition practice in early years settings. Unique to the EYN Partnership is the provision of ‘hands-on’ help for settings, delivered by a network of Registered Nutritionists and Dietitians.
Launched in 2016, the EYN Partnership is an an independent social enterprise, created in partnership with the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the British Nutrition Foundation and Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition.

WE SUPPORT INNOVATIVE PROGRAMMES WITH THE AMBITION TO POSITIVELY IMPACT FUTURE HEALTH.
The Healthy Eating for Young Children (HEY!) programme gives disadvantaged families the skills they need to budget, shop and cook healthily.
The programme enables parents of one to three year olds to improve their children’s health in the critical early years. It is easy to access, taking place in local community centres, and gives parents transferable life skills.
HEY! has been independently evaluated, demonstrating that healthy eating behaviour change is sustained after completing the course.
HEY! is accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health. Parents can also earn two learning credits, which can help them get back into education.
I'll never look back. The HEY! course has definitely changed my family's life.
eat like a champ
Eat Like A Champ is our award-winning healthy eating educational programme for primary school children aged nine to ten.
The free course inspires children to adopt the healthy choices of champions they admire, like our ambassador – world-record breaker and ex-Blue Peter presenter – Helen Skelton.
Eat Like a Champ is evidence based, as research conducted by the Children’s Food Trust verified that children who took part shifted their behaviour towards healthier eating habits.

Alzheimer's Support Wiltshire
Employees have a long-term relationship with local charity Alzheimer's Support Wiltshire, supporting them with their time and resources to:
- transform the garden area to create a welcoming environment
- deliver talks on ‘eating well with dementia’ to empower carers and people living with dementia to better understand good nutrition
- host Dementia Friends sessions, as part of our commitment to dementia-friendly community action
Bitham brook School
In 2015, employees hosted a group of pupils from Bitham Brook Primary School. The pupils were invited to taste the Cow & Gate range of pouches, sample our award-winning healthy eating programme Eat Like a Champ and hear from different departments about what their work involves.
Headteacher David Ross said: "The children had a fantastic time taste-testing, finding out more about healthy eating and understanding how a modern business works. I am very grateful to Danone for giving the children such an excellent experience and for the partnership with them."
